If you’re a fan of the legendary Sovtek Tall Front Russian Big Muff sound, but want the functionality of the Deluxe Big Muff Pi, then the Sovtek Deluxe Big Muff Pi distortion, fuzz and overdrive effects pedal by Electro Harmonix is for you! In addition to the control knobs for volume, tone and sustain, there are other knobs and switches to help you shape the sound of your guitar or bass. If you want the clean sound to come through the fuzz with more bottom end or definition, for instance, then the blend control can help you do it. That's far from all, however. There are plenty of other options for shaping your sound, including more than one control dedicated to the mids.

Sovtek Deluxe Big Muff Pi: controllable fuzz

With the high Q / low Q switch, you can set the resonance/bandwidth of the EQ and then adjust it using the mids frequency knob. After that, the mids level control can be used to determine the level of the boost or cut. There's also a dedicated mids footswitch on the pedal enabling you to turn this section on or off. If you need a little more sparkle or punch from this Sovtek Deluxe version of the Big Muff Pi, it can be done at the flick of the Wicker switch, found on the left side of the pedal. If you’ve fully adjusted everything, but just need to tighten up the sound or dampen the noise of your single coils, simply turn the Gate knob until it hits the right spot.
